My First Magic Mushroom Trip ! Story plus Photos - Deep Connection with Nature + Funny Plot Twist

in #photography8 years ago (edited)

//One day last year I decided to try mushrooms for my first time. I wanted to do this alone, and be able to focus fully on the experience. I was living in Hawaii at the time, so I decided on this awesome spot I knew about to go.

"It was definitely a life changing experience. It allowed me to open up my consciousness and look at like through a different lens, a new perspective."

I didn't know what to expect at all!

The start of the trail was at this beautiful side road with mango trees planted all the way down either side.

The trail was this beautiful, mystic pathway with inter winding tree branches creating sort of a tunnel all the way through.

I decided to do it barefoot so I could feel more connected to the earth.

Of course I brought my sidekick Gnorman the Gnome, who comes with me on all my trips. (No pun intended). I think he fit right in with the folklore-ish vibes of this place.

Approaching the end of the tunnel...

Around the corner... Theres a total surprise.

Yeah this massive beautiful rock arch naturally created by the waves crashing in. Fuck me right? isnt this the best place to trip on mushrooms ??

So I just sort of sat here at the beach, watching the waves, feeling the wind on my skin, waiting for the shrooms to kick in.
I remember all of a sudden I saw this super white rock that stood out a ton against all the black ones. And i just felt REALLY inclined to go touch it. haha.

So I stood up and walked over. And once I started moving around, thats when I really started to feel it.

I felt super in touch with my surroundings, and very curious. Like every sensation was new. The sand under my feet, the wind, the sun, the mist of the water from the waves. I sat there and enjoyed this feeling for a few minutes and then decided I wanted to explore. And so I headed back to the trail that brought me in to this awesome spot.

Thats when I saw this sign posted up on a tree. It felt so appropriate and like it's message really spoke to me. Yeah this was definitely the shrooms...

"Life is Precious, Handle it with Prayer"

I loved that!

Thats when I suddenly came face to face with this huge intricate spider web! I remember being overwhelmed at the beauty of it and broke down into tears immediately.

Moving on
IMG_3337.jpg

I started to feel REALLY in touch with my surroundings, not only like I was IN nature, but that I WAS nature. Perhaps this was the feeling of "oneness" I had heard so much about.

I remember picking up this leaf, usually I wouldn't even acknowledge this, but this time I HAD to touch it. I sat there admiring it and appreciating how beautiful it was and how complex it was on a cellular level. It seemed ridiculous that I had never done this before...

Going through this trail I began to explore all sorts of physical sensations that seems so unfamiliar..

I began rubbing mud all over my chest, touching and feeling moss growing on fallen trees, I started hanging from branches and swinging back and forth.. It all felt SO new and amazing to experience..

IMG_3321.jpg

I had this realization of how it felt so crazy to me that I was this physical human thing wondering around experiencing this world through physical sensations.

So I finally reached the end of the trail.. I took my 20 minutes to walk in, but 3 hours to walk out because I took time to appreciate every detail !

I remember reaching the road back at the beginning of the trail and being shocked to see evidence of other humans, litter, cars, a house... I had completely forgotten about the outside world!

So the shrooms started to wear off by now. I LOVED the experience. And I felt like even when the high was gone, I had kept this deep appreciation for nature I had gained, and the feeling of oneness when I needed to... It was definitely a life changing experience. It allowed me to open up my consciousness and look at like through a different lens, a new perspective.

Oh and the plot twist?!

I got a major staph infection from the barefoot walk !!! Maybe I'll be doing a post about this experience soon too as I decided to fast in order to heal it without using antibiotics, and I learned a TON from this too.
