Ansel Adams - NOT!

in #photography5 years ago (edited)

As I stated yesterday, no sense in letting imperfection or ignorance keep a person from getting in the game. I am no Ansel Adams but I won't let that stop me from learning and participating.

Oddly, the edits that I made to my too-short for travelfeed post did not come through. Sorry about that, travelfeed.

The picture below was taken at the Rio resort in Guanecaste, Costa Rica. I will post others pics in a later post.

The Rio is in a gated beachfront area adjacent to another resort. There are small shops and a club within the gated property as well. The Rio has about 4 other restaurants and numerous bars, including a poolside bar that you can swim right up to and have a drink.

There are plenty of other activities including: a well appointed gym, massages, kayaking, snorkeling, hiking along the beach, pool activities such as volleyball and water aerobics. A hike down the beach leads to more beautiful beaches and some trails into the woods. There is a local bar and plenty of wildlife. Horseback riders are also seen along the beach. For the more adventurous, it is possible to kayak to the opposite beach in the background of the photo below. Somewhere between the log and that distant beach my watch is resting on the bottom of the bay!

We were there for a family reunion and the kids - mid-teens to early twenties had a great time. be advised that as an all inclusive there is an open bar in hotel rooms. You may want to ask that they be removed if your kids are on their own. That said, they do give different color ID bracelets to guests that are not of legal drinking age. Any drink they order will be served "virgin."

This log was on the beach in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. I tried a long exposure at f2.8. The ocean is a bit too hot so I lost some detail. I find the detail in the log juxtaposed with the blurred water and background very attractive. Maybe you will too.
