A collection of photography w/ Las Vegas pinup, Darby Fox!

in #photography8 years ago (edited)

Firstly, I want to thank everyone who's voted and resteemed the post I made late last night; “Steemit inspired “Cryptopia” comic; the Graves campaign for top witness sketch!”. I’ve talked about this in previous posts here on Steemit. As much as I love my job […and photographing beautiful women in lingerie isn’t a bad job, if you can get it], my heart is and always has been in comic book illustration/design. I’ve been a passionate comic book and graphic novel enthusiast since I was a kid. I’ve tried to break away from photography and pursue that career and time and time again, it didn’t materialize. Professional comic artist page rate is typically $150 - $200 and as of this morning, that post made over $350 in less than 12 hours! I’m kind of in disbelief because I assumed I’ve just become the “hot girl photographer” of our community. Getting this kind of love for illustration, something that’s much closer to my heart, is a really big deal, guys! If I could continue to get posts over $200 per page for Cryptopia, this could be a real thing! I could do this comic full time! It’s amazing. You’re amazing, Steemit! Thank you!

So after all the heart-string pulling about how I always wanted to be a comic book artist, here I am with your daily installment of beautiful women in lingerie. This one comes from a few shoots with Las Vegas pinup model, Darby Fox. Darby and I have had multiple mutual friends and eventually, she reached out to me a few years ago to book a shoot for her and her friend Sarah Vamp. The wanted to do a sleazy hotel vibe […intentionally] in relatively trashy attire. Sounded cool, so we set a date and had a great time making weird, oddly sexy […in a Marla Singer kind of way] photos at a downtown Vegas motel. I always get excited about shoots I’ve never done before and that was a first.

Darby and I stayed in touch after that first shoot and a year or so later, she contacted me about booking another session. This would be just her and we’ve have more time to plan and prepare for the concepts. We arrangement the first look at The Artisan Hotel in Las Vegas, my favorite place to shoot when I’m in sin city. It’s eclectic and dark; a perfect compliment to my unique style of available, diegetic lighting. She came shoot ready with hair and make-up done […Darby is one of those dream clients that can do it all]. Her features worked perfectly with low light photography. She has prominent cheekbones that contour her face and a life time of drama and theater experience allow her to transform in to a pulp crime femme fatale, I swear.

We wrapped up at The Artisan and traveled to her mom’s beautiful home outside of Vegas. With an assortment of unique props we continued to shoot with an antique silver serving set, even a vintage wicker wheelchair. She had this amazing sports jacket and top hat ensemble with a cane. I wish I couldn’t take credit for the styling, but that was all Darby. She’s a brilliant artist. Such a pleasure to shoot with her.

Thanks for reading! This was a great couple of shoots. I’m hoping I have the chance to work with Darby again this year when I return to Vegas in the fall. For more photography, illustration, art and thoughts on life, follow me @kommienezuspadt!

Indeed you are very lucky to work with this charming lady. As she is lucky to be photographed by you because you are gifted. I will follow you because your work is perfect and I like very much what you do. I also like this side retro, very glamorous.

nice cmnt....

Stunning interpretation of vintage pinup shoots with gritty modern twist. My favorite is the one where the model is drinking out of a brown paper bag.

hah - when the only part I read was 'Thanks for reading!" I'll come back and read this for sure, but I had to laugh at myself.

Nice Shooting!
