Picture of the day: "Roche Fauconnière"
I just wanted to share a picture I made during my run today. The colors in late fall are incredible with perfect shades created by the sunset.
The picture was taken from the top of Roche Fauconnière cliff, France. These mountains are called Jura and were formed in the same time as the Alps. The lake of Geneva of Leman separates Alps and Jura which made scientist think that these mountain ranges were from two different geological periods. In fact Jura mountains are geologically part of the Alps but look older as glaciers sculpted it and made the mountains look smoother in Jura.
The snow on the ground is the result of a cold front which crossed France a week ago and gave snow above 700 meters of elevation.
