Poland: above & around

in #photography7 years ago

Hi,
this time I want to share with you my last drone-timelapse project: Poland: above & around :)

The story behind Poland: above & around started over a year ago, when I contacted Emitel company, which is administrating telecommunication towers all over Poland. Since we are experts of the high altitude photography, they invited me and Blogusz.pl to climb onto 10 of their towers around the country, and to shoot photos and movies from these objects. We couldn't refuse!

The whole trip took us over 3 weeks, during which we drived 3000 km - from the mountains, to the sea. We took the chance and drove to the other places too, to visit spots we wouldn't have time to visit otherwise. Our road leaded from Warszawa to - Kazimierz Dolny - Kielce - Święty Krzyż - Sandomierz - Zamość - Rzeszów - Krynica Górska - Nowy Sącz - Zakopane - Bielsko-Biała - Skrzyczne - Moszna - Wałbrzych - Zamek Książ - Szklarska Poręba - Śnieżne Kotły - Poznań - Świnoujście - Międzywodzie - Krynica Morska - Giżycko, Gdańsk - and ended back in Warszawa :)

Each day we visited a new place, new tower, and met new workers taking care of the bases. They all were very kind and helpful. Climbing itself was very tiring, including the fact we had to go up with the heavy equipment such as DSLRs, tripod, timelapse head. Before the trip we had to conduct an altitude testing and special training to work on heights. We had to wear a special harness with hooks, lines etc. :) In every place we shot timelapses and drone shots of the objects, what took us a few hours.

The highest tower we climbed was 327 meters high! It's located in Miłki, close to Giżycko. It's 100 meters higher than Palace of Culture and Science, which is the highest skyscraper in Poland! It's also a 10 highest construcion in Poland. It took us over an hour to climb that high. It was better than any gym I visited... ever :)

We also shot during night, in the darkest places in our country:

The trip took place in August, 2016. But only a few weeks ago I got an inspiration and decided to edit them as a movie. I wanted to show the beauty of my country and it's diversity. It's also a part of Poland On Air project, in which I want to publish a photobook with aerial photographs of Poland.

Poland is beautiful ❤️

What a fantastic project, congratulations. I bought my husband a swanky drone for his birthday but here, in the UK, there are alot of regulations and people worry about their privacy. He hasn't got to really use it yet but we have a house in Bulgaria where I imagine he will get far more flying time in! New here and finding alot of inspirational folks amongst the chaff :) Upvoted and followed I invite you to reciprocate. Have a great weekend xox

Hi, thank you! In fact in cities in Poland it's also difficult to get permissions to fly, but in the wild places with less number of people it's easier.

Wow! That is such an incredible piece of work. Stunning! The world looks beautiful from the top. Thanks for sharing with all of us :)

Thank you and don't forget to follow my story.

Ehh, jakie to piękne!
