Impressive gorges - These natural phenomena makes you speechless

in #photography7 years ago

Is there anything better than breathtaking natural phenomena? Hardly likely. Above all gorges, which pull themselves in the midst of rugged rock walls into the depth, have a special effect on us when viewing. Today I show you the most beautiful and impressive gorges in the world.

Rugged cliffs as far as the eye can see and in the middle of it an imposing ravine that draws into the depths. Gently hug the clear air and the recurring sound of the hall. We stop for a moment and let the incredible atmosphere affect us. The eyes open again, we pull our camera and try to capture this indescribable moment for eternity. One more deep breath and on it goes. Finally, impressive gorges await us all over the world.

The Vintgar gorge in Slovenia

Our first trip takes us to Slovenia, more precisely near the city of Bled. Here is the Vintgar gorge, which stands out between the mountains Hom and Boršt. The Vintgar gorge, which is passable via wooden bridges, measures a proud 1.6 kilometers. Over the wooden paths you have the opportunity to see all the splendor of the gorge up close.

It's best to spend a good hour visiting the area, stopping in between to enjoy these natural forces. Listen to the roar of the water currents and breathe in the cool air that blows between the rugged cliffs. If you follow the wooden bridge to the end, you will reach the 13 meter high waterfall Sum. So be sure to bring a good camera with you, because here are incredibly beautiful photo opportunities.

The Taroko Gorge in Taiwan

The Taroko National Park, which was named after the Taroko Gorge, awakens many a thirst for adventure. That this gorge is so special, it owes to the river Liwu. With his enormous power of flow, he has fought his way through the 19-kilometer, marble-made mountains and formed this breathtaking gorge. You can even explore it on your own today: different paths lead you to the gorge, to impressive waterfalls or to observation platforms, where you can let this natural phenomenon calmly affect you.

The Glen Canyon National Recreation Area in the USA

The Glen Canyon National Recreation Area in Arizona is sure to be familiar to some of you. It is one of the largest recreation areas in the world and offers with its artificial lake, the Lake Powell, not only a beautiful, almost picturesque scenery, but also all sorts of opportunities to exercise sporty. From swimming, diving, snorkeling, water skiing to small boat tours - this incredible spot of nature you can explore to your heart's content in a variety of ways. Also for hiking it attracts many visitors. But let me tell you, Lake Powell is the second largest reservoir in the States - until you surround it, it will take a little longer. The impressions you collect here are definitely worth it.

The Verdon Gorge in the French Provence

Turquoise water meanders in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence from the river Verdon Proud 25 kilometers along the Verdon Gorge. The gorge is deep up to 700 meters and invites water sports enthusiasts to go on a discovery tour by canoe. But paragliders and bungee jumpers also enjoy this natural backdrop. In addition, over 1,500 different hiking and climbing routes lead through the Verdon Gorge. Pretty much every extreme sport can be practiced here, even mountain bikers find their way for the special kick in the French Provence.

Der Zion Nationalpark in den USA

To marvel at true natural wonders, the trail does not pass the Zion National Park in Utah. To marvel at all the scenic wonders of nature, one almost lacks the air, because one does not get out of astonishment here so quickly. A panorama of the most beautiful photo opportunities lies here at your feet, starting with the walk through Kanarra Creek, stopped at the subway, which you can see in the picture below. In Zion National Park you can expect some breathtaking gorges, so I would recommend a stay of several days. It is worth it!

The Blyde River Canyon in South Africa

Did you know that the Blyde River Gorge in Mpumalanga, South Africa, is one of the most beautiful canyons in the world? The red sandstones strewn with dense forests immediately catch your eye. With a length of about 25 kilometers and a fabulous depth of 800 meters, the Canyon is not only a popular destination for visitors, but also habitat for hippos and antelopes, which feel at home in the woods. While visitors from all over the world come here to explore the canyon with the hot air balloon, to hike or to biking, a vantage point is particularly popular: The three Rondavels are reminiscent of the huts of the locals due to their round shape.

The Tara Canyon in Montenegro

Another breathtaking gorge is in Montenegro. Located in the middle of the Durmitor National Park, the Tara Gorge with its depth of up to 1,300 meters and 78 kilometers in length is the deepest and longest gorge in Europe. A particularly popular vantage point is the 150 meter high Đurđevića Tara Bridge, which leads across the gorge. Spectacular views are guaranteed here! Especially I would like to recommend a rafting tour through the Tara Gorge. Whether on a traditional wooden raft or in a classic rafting boat - such a trip is a real highlight of the holiday in Montenegro.

The Partnachklamm in Germany

One of the most beautiful gorges in my list can be found in the state of Bavaria, more precisely in the vicinity of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. At a length of 700 meters and with a depth of about 80 meters, the Partnachklamm seems relatively small at first glance, but the gorge, which was declared a natural monument over 100 years ago, is undoubtedly spectacular. Throughout the year you can walk through the narrow gorge, in winter large icicles decorate the walls, before spring turns the gorge into a moss-covered fairytale landscape.
