How to make the sea even more salty

in #photography6 years ago (edited)

No, here there is no conspiracy theory. And secret research here is nothing to do with. Peoples just need salt. A lot of salt.

Therefore, on the island of Bonaire, part of the territory is occupied by huge artificial salt lakes. Where regulary pumped seawater from the sea. Then, under the action of the sun, the water evaporates, and the salt remains. This very salt is raked by bulldozers in huge white mountains. Which are located near the shore and gradually grow.

For 15 thousand inhabitants of the island, so much salt is of course not needed. So the salt should be taken away to consumers. For this purpose, a salt pier - a cyclopean construction of many connected platforms that go into the sea - was built on the shore. To this pier large ocean cargo ships moor. After that, within one or two days, the ship is continuously loaded with salt. I think in the big ship there are 1-2 mountains of salt.

Part of salt during loading, of course, wakes up back into the sea. And after each ship on the pier, repair work is carried out, in which some of the materials also fall into the sea. As a result, in water almost all the time something happens. And it oddly attracts many different fish.
Well, where is the fish, there are divers)

When the ship is loaded to dive on the pier it is impossible, because of security concerns. But then this place becomes one of the most popular on the island. We also did not pass him by. In total, we dived there several times. To see as much as possible tried to do this day and night.

And every time it was interesting. You could see someone new. There were more than 5 schools of flocks. There were very tiny creatures and very impressive. Morays, rays, lobsters, octopuses and fish, fish, fish ...

If you look at the ground photograph of the pier, you will see a lot of divers coming in and out of the water. It may seem that there is no passage from under them. But no. All these people are dissolving between the platforms of the pier. And during the dive you are unlikely to meet more than a couple of people.

At night we dived all alone. And this, I will tell you, is a separate entertainment. If it's easy to get lost in this underwater maze during the daylight, it's even more so at night. You think that you are under the same platform, but in fact completely different. So you loop around here, bumping into different creatures in the light of a lantern. It's good that there is light on the surface on the platforms and on the shore. You can easily navigate and swim to the shore.
