Evolution of Cameras
Hey Friends!!
Welcome to the Evolution of the Camera
I took these pics of a photography display at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
Here is a list of the cameras to follow:
Rochester circa 1885
Kodak about 1910
Brownie circa 1950
Minolta circa 1960.
Looks pretty cool!
Kodak Instamatic circa 1975
Nikon circa 1977
I remember my uncle had a 35mm Pentax from around 1980 and it took some fairly amazing photos.
I hope you enjoyed seeing a few old-timey cameras.
Thanks for stopping by!

I'm in love with the Kodak Optical Box! What a sweet piece of camera that is! I have a lot of old cameras that were gotten here and there and passed along, but, I have run out of places to put "cool" things anymore. So I will donate mine and go look at the museums!
Cool post - and cameras!

Yes! I need to do a follow up piece on the one old one I have. I cannot seem to get it to "open". Maybe I can post about it and someone can give me an idea on how to open it.
I know I am about half way to having my own "collection" lol.
Nice collection!
I'm afraid to say how many of these I recognize, having used or at least seen them... I've recycled some of the adjustable lens assemblies into ad-hoc darkroom enlargers...
But I must object to characterizing this as "evolution." Every last one of these puppies was carefully designed by an intelligent human being. ;)
😄😇😄
Oh yes, I see your point. The camera did not evolve on their own. Of course there was intelligent design! Well played :)
I found an even older camera. Used for some really OLD images.
Yeah and those "prints" are known to last a while!
they certainly don't fade, like my old polaroids.

@old-guy-photos,
I'm not sure what it says about me but I have a fascination with old tools. With them you can understand the mechanics of how things work. Look at the inside of a modern automobile engine ... good luck.
Great picks of the cameras. I'd love to take apart the first three. By the time we get to the fourth ... the fun dissipates.
Lately, I've noticed, you're spending more time in Detroit's museums. It makes for interesting blog posts.

Yeah when I was younger (and bulletproof) I used to go into the city for many events. Then things got worse and I got old. However, now things are seemingly improved in the city. Sadly I am older, but hey my son is 18 lol.
🎁 Hi @old-guy-photos! You have received 0.1 STEEM tip from @dswigle!

I remember at school that I needed a camera for my project and I can't get one, it sucks, now cameras are just so common and with high power too. @old-guy-photos
Thank you very much @hendrikdegrote
Interesting exhibit. Nice photos. Was there a camera obscura and the daguerreotype there? The progression of photography can hardly be complete without those. :D
