COMBINATION PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST FROM @PAPA-PEPPER – WEEK 2

in #photography7 years ago

Well steemians, it seems like a lot of you enjoyed this new contest and I was amazed by a lot of the entries that came in, but do you know what that means?

It means that I’ll keep running this contest for the time being. You know that @papa-pepper really enjoys plants and animals, so what better photography contest could he run than one where others get to photograph plants and animals together, in some combination photography?

EXAMPLES

Before I get into who won the contest last week, I’ll quickly review what I am looking for by featuring some new photos of mine.

First off, by combination photography I mean that you should combine two elements; plants and animals. At least one plant and at least one animal should be featured in your photo. Here are two examples.

Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly on flower

Blue Spotted Salamander on moss

Besides simply providing the images, I also require that those entering this contest provide a proof photo as well. Two main versions of proof photos exist. One kind features the same combination of plants & animals with a written paper in the photo with your username, the date, contest name, etc. to prove that you took the photo for the contest.

The other type of proof is just a selfie with the animal and plant. Here are my examples for the photos featured above.

Once you see the proof photos there should not be any doubt in your mind that I actually took the photos I shared above.

THE WINNERS!

As always, this was tough for me, but I have finally made my decisions. The Winner gets 50% of the liquid post payout from the Week One Post and the two runner ups each get 12.5% of the same.

THE WINNER

@digitalis

18.49 SBD

FIRST RUNNER UP

@heart-to-heart

9.24 SBD

SECOND RUNNER UP

@stresskiller

9.24 SBD

Obviously, there were many more original entries and for that I am most thankful. It is great to see so much talent and variety within the community. Although the official way to enter this contest is by including your entry photo and the proof photo in a reply to my post, I strongly encourage others to make an actual post featuring their entry as well.

Even if you do not win the contest, you could still get something for your effort if you turn it into a post as well. @Matthewtiii even had his post get a total payout of over $70, which is more than he would have made by actually winning this contest! That is the power of steemit! In fact, once he had a contest post get a total payout of over $200 when he was trying to win 5 STEEM in a contest that I was running, LOL! Link here.

ON TO WEEK 2!

By now you should have a clue about what this contest is and how to enter, but here are the official rules just to make sure. Enjoy, and I am looking forward to seeing what you can come up with.

HERE ARE THE OFFICIAL RULES:

  • Photo entries must be placed in the reply/comment section of this post.
  • Submissions may also be made into posts, but it is not necessary.
  • A proof photo will also be required. This can be in the form of a selfie with the subjects from the photos or in the form of your username written on a piece of paper in a photo, etc. Basically, you must prove the originality of your work. Therefore, your entry comment should include two photos.
  • Users have between now and the time of the post payout to enter this contest.
  • I will personally select one winner to award half of the liquid SBD payout from this post to and two runner ups who will each get 25% of the same.
  • Enter as many times as you like!
  • Depending on the interest in this contest, I may have it be ongoing.

TL;DR

If you reply to this post with a photo of a plant and animal together and include a proof photo before the post payout from this post, you may win a portion of the post payout.

LET THE 2ND WEEK OF THE CONTEST BEGIN!!!

Until next time…

resteemed!
congrats to all the winners!
I'm happy that mathewtii (the pepper eating king here) is still alive and kickin' I mean that account :D

Thanks for thinking of me.

you were gone for quite some time :)

@papa-pepper WOW! I am so thrilled to have been chosen! I guess that little guy was lucky after all ;) I mentioned this before but just want to send a huge thank you for sparking interest in the natural world. I remember when I first joined 2 months ago, someone told me that because I was here to kind of encourage people back to nature, (as I am a homesteader myself) to get in touch with you, so I did and at that time had no idea what you're doing for the community! I think it's fantastic! I'm thrilled that my love for plants and animals gets me through the lack of photography skills. I just picked up my camera recently.

BTW, as I was writing this, we had a surprise visitor. I could only use my phone so sadly, the quality doesn't match my camera but here's some of what went down. I am positive he was after your attention:

I have a video of this as well. Mostly of him pointing his long arm-link things at me, then him jumping onto my computer, off of it, onto me and it's quite the ruckus. All because he wanted to be noticed by you! =D

Looking forward to this week's challenge, with love and gratitude,

@heart-to-heart

Hmmm..... a pepper is a plant too, and that is an animal... Got a proof selfie? LOL!

Nice entry on the win! I am glad that you appreciate my efforts here.

I have a video of him and I having fun? Does that count? Can try to edit it into a still... ;) He thought it funny to continually scare me for about an hour following, every time I thought he was gone he would pop right back onto my screen or my glass... I think I need to learn your critter whispering skills =D

hahahhaha wow this is awesome!!!!
Seems like a potential winner to me!

Greetings!

I finally got an entry into your contest and even though the one I just got that I really wanted to submit didn't work because lack of proof photo I got another cool one with proof!

Thanks for running so many cool contests and helping this community out so much. You truly are a Steemit Hero!

SteemON!

Hey @papa-pepper, thought I would try this another time 'round. Got a cool one for you ;) I know the laptop one was decent and all but I couldn't get it up close and personal enough for my liking! Check this guy out!
Here's my post with a bunch more shots of him!

I'm hoping someone knows what it is =D

Also caught this one, the flowers were in the web!

These spiders can be massive and are always seen dangling around in their webs, I don't dare get much closer than this ;)

Aren't those proof photos fun to take?

Fun.... yes... sure ;) You're much more brave than I sir, I am still working on touching all the critters that I see you with on a regular basis =D

Hope these aren't too late!!

I loved this one with the yellow jacket taking flight. She was very willing to let me get close...but when I bumped the leaves she decided to LEAVE.

And these are some fantastic bonus... This maybe a baby of the praying mantis I previously photographed and featured.... Yay!! Our Praying Mantis population is doing well!!

You are not too late, still about 6 hours left.

thx for sharing

@stresskiller, how did you get your background blacked out like that? Was the photo taken at night? And if so, what kind of flash/lighting did you use to get your shot?

Good question, that background is striking against the insect.

I'm also interested in the answer to this...

I tried to find these bugs this morning but was unable to locate any. However, this afternoon I was able to find several of them. They seem to love sitting on the Swiss Chard.

They do kind of look similar. Thanks for your contribution.

Glad to see you have decided to continue the combination contest! I was really bummed that I was too busy to enter last week, but I get the day off work tomorrow and I plan on exploring for the better part of the day! Hope to come up with a contribution to your contest :)

Yes! Glad to hear it! You both should try to see what you can come up with!
