Unplanned Outing with Fun and Horrible Experiences

Last saturday, me and my friends went to Isla Romantica. It was an unplanned outing yet very memorable because of the terrifying experience we encountered when we are about to go home. But first, let me tell you more about this tiny island in Cebu, Philippines. 😊

Cebu City

Cebu City is known as the “Queen City of the South” in the Philippines. It has a lot of islands with gorgeous beaches that are perfect for island hopping and outing. Its white sand beaches are applauded by the local people and even by the tourist from the different parts of the world.

Isla Romantica is located about 1-2km from Mactan island. We rode a pump boat and it took almost 30 mins for us to get there. It’s just a small island but it’s a perfect place to escape from the noisy and dusty City. Chilling out in the mini sandbars is best to enjoy with wines and beers.

The place is also perfect to play volleyball while waiting for the sunset. Its fine white sand makes the game a lot fun.

Sunset

Sunset is one of an astonishing scene in the island. Its a little bit cloudy but still the skies is very magnificent to look at. The reflections on the water and the various colors in the skies that changed from shades of yellow, orange, and blue made the end of the day so lovely. We were lucky enough to witness a lovely sunset that time. ♥️

When the night comes, our friend Carl (@legendavid03) made a bonfire.

The most memorable part

We sat beside the bonfire to dry ourselves up. After that we changed clothes and went home. This is the most memorable part because there are no more pumpboats to ride back to Mactan Island. We tried to shout “kuya tabang! dili nami makalabang!!” or in english “Please help us! We cant get off the island!!!”. No one heard us, we dont know what to do that time so we tried to walk in the very dark ocean. Some of my friends got hurt by the sea urchins. We walked for almost an hour but we stopped in the middle of the ocean because some of my friends can’t walk straight because of the wound from their feet. We also cant go back to the island because the sea level is rising and the sea current is getting stronger. We are stranded in the middle of the dark ocean and shouted “HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP!”. After a few minutes someone heard us and called a pumpboat to rescue and get us off the ocean.

We survived that one hell of an experience! Some of my things are very wet except my phone 😂 I’ve tried my best to prevent it from getting wet. When we arrived at Mactan Island we thank God, laughed, and took a selfie with a smile all over our faces.

Isla Romantica is a very memorable place for us. We had tons of memories especially that near death experience in the middle of the ocean. But we learned one thing yesterday, “never give up even if you don’t have the voice to shout for help”.
