In the South we have birds who lay in the open like that and the eggs look the same. It is a killdeer bird. They will squawk and lay down and pitch a tantrum if you get near their nest. Maybe the same bird you saw. Interesting no matter her type. The flowers are gorgeous. Those very tall blueish/purplish spikes are digitalis. They would bloom in the Fall in Tennessee. Loved the mass planting of Hydrangeas and those orangey Crotons. So Pretty!

Yes, you are completely right! It was killdeer bird. Thank you! I didn’t want to go too close to scare him again, when he came back just to take a clear picture of him. His protective way was kind of cute and funny.
