The image you see through optical viewfinder is always shown in most apertures of lenses. Although it provides bright images, it is impossible to judge the depth of field in small aperture settings.

To see what is sharp and vague, press Preview Preview button in your camera.

It is known as an effective aperture to stop the lens. The picture will be dark, so you should be allowed to change your eyes.

Field preview depth also works in the live view. Live view meets the increasing growth control, you can zoom in and examine the focus of specific parts of the image, it becomes more effective than the viewfinder DOF test.
