I think they are curious and watch me watching them but it varies from one type to another. Some hardly ever stop moving it seems. I was trying to photograph a new one yesterday but I soon realized it was coming in to land on the underside of leaves which made it impossible to capture but what a clever idea to keep safe.
The soft focus of the background does make it look like a painting. Especially since it is such a stark contrast from the sharpness of the butterfly itself!
