With no money outlay you can collect seeds for free, collect soil for free and plant in second hand wax cartons or plastic bottles recycled from your kitchen. Taking cuttings from existing plants is also an option for making more plants for no more money.

This is my current personal tree growing project to plant out as many small fruit trees back into the jungle here in Costa Rica for the good of locals and animals alike.

Within months you will have plants big enough to sell on though - or if you don't need the cash just grow and plant out in your area. The world always needs more trees and flowers .
Happy gardening!

Great idea. It wouldn't work here as people seem to frequent the many plant nurseries.
I bring home all kinds of seeds I have collected from wild plants. I also always carry a Swiss knife around with me and bags so that I can take small cuttings from shrubs I see while out and about. If I see a nice one in a garden I will sometimes knock on the door of the owner and ask for a cutting. I got to know some lovely people, and now we swap seeds and plants. 😀

Sorry my reply to you disappeared down the page strangely I hope you saw it @katdvine. Keep your Swiss Army knife at hand and keep taking cuttings! Great work

Thanks, will do. Yes, the posts disappear quickly. Never go anywhere without my Swiss knife. 😀

We have a ton of wild fruit trees in our area ranging from bing and black cherry, several apples, plums, and pears. Some of the apples aren't very good, but some of the these are oh my goodness awesome. We have friends that have an apple tree that have the biggest, sweetest apples I have ever had. I have got to get me some seeds from them. When I say large apples I mean 7-8" across. My now deceased neighbor said he thought they were something called rocky mountain apples/ gold miners apples. He said they are not commercially available anymore. I have to get more proactive in getting seeds and cuttings.

Wow those apples are making my mouth water. There is an orchard in Southern England where they grow many many varieties of old style apples - never seen in shops normally - quite extraordinary. An amazing stock and I wonder if one could get interesting seeds from them too.
Thanks for commenting on my article. I shall be following your story now .have a beautiful day.

What a great idea looking for orchards with older, heritage varieties of fruit trees. I will try to get some seed from the good apple trees I have found here and maybe trade with people like you here on Steemit.

A seed swap would be very cool

I think so. Especially if we can find trees that don't need to be grafted to a different root stock to produce good fruit. I would love to do some type of seed swap. If I get some different seeds I would have available to swap, I can write a post with descriptions and list names on the post for anybody that would be interested. We can resteem post with available seeds for trade.

Right now I do have some wild black cherry seed, apricots, and I will be getting some different wild plum tree seeds coming soon, along with those apples I was talking about, assuming the fire from two years ago didn't burn it up.

Excellent - your Swiss Army knife is very handy for such work. Cuttings are awesome I agree and I collect wherever I can too

Awesome!!! I love this
I also love the fact that you tagged "recycling" there. Environment conservation is necessary

Thanks for your comment - I totally agree recycling is so key these days!

Wonderful blog. You make great points. My boys (and I) are always looking for other ways to make some extra money, and grow as much food for our family as possible. Of course growing your own food is money in your pocket and much better for you than what we get can get from a supermarket.

Thanks for your comments - I agree we don't want to eat anything from supermarkets if avoidable. I am also growing baby trees to plant out into the jungle here to be everyone's food - animals and people that is . Deforestation is a constant problem so one has to put back as much as possible and it's an easy thing to do - just needs doing that's all ❤️
Following you now btw

The best things in life are relatively free! Love a these plants.

Thanks very much - happy gardening!

That's a great idea, and especially one that could be taught to young kids aspiring to be gardening entrepreneurs or "gardenpreneur". This is the kind of topic that would also be of interest to people in the #homesteading and #prepping communities as well. I'll resteem this post for our followers.

Thank you very much and yes should be taught to children. Trees are my particular thing at the moment as I want to plant into the jungle here as many small trees as I can to bring plentiful fruits to the locals and animals alike. It is so easy to do , everyone should get involved and help get this planet it's tree cover back. If we all do a little so much can be achieved. Have a beautiful steemy day!

I sent you and upvote from @treeplanter

And when your plants go to seed you can collect those as well!

Exactly well said - there is no shortage of seeds - the planet just needs a little help in getting them planted and redistributed.
