When the Government Commisions Graffiti
One of many reasons the Islamic Revolution in Iran of 1979 was so successful, was the effective use of Propaganda in the Form of radio, graffiti and many more. Even today, revolutionary and post revolutionary propaganda graffitis in full fledged pop colours can be found all over Iran. Some of them have faded away, some of them are being refurbished on a regular basis. Most of them stem from the 8 year Iran/Irak war, with fallen soldiers stylized as Martyrs. As opposed to many other countries where graffiti is an underground artform used as means of protest, usually illegal, the post revolutionary regime has occupied this artform for national propaganda.
I'm guessing you are Iranian, I'm Swiss. Is the Iranian Political system the will of the People or is it oppressive?
I hope my question is not too controvertial. And ofcourse your opinion is based on your experience. You know we hear about Iran regularly and it's usually about the Nuclear Programme, petrochemical sector etc., rarely about your environment etc.
Kind regards Steeming Stadex.
