Hiking Loch Lake Trail! - Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

My latest hike was on the Loch Lake Trail in Rocky Mountain. It's a pretty easy hike of about 5.7 miles. I'm hoping to go back to Rocky Mountain National Park again this weekend so stay tuned!

This hike was a little bit of a struggle for me. I forgot my hiking boots so I had to go in tennis shoes. The trail was covered in a couple inches of slush and my feet got wet within a couple minutes. Great hike, but I was pretty miserable during it. But the views along the way made the whole hike worth it.

The last time I hiked this trail was during a night hike, it was nice to see it during the day for a change!

Here's a picture I took of Loch Lake almost frozen over, you couldn't see much with all the fog. I stayed for about 10 minutes before the cold got to me and I turned around. There was a bluebird at the lake that was hopping around.

View of some close cliffs, you can see how foggy it is. It made it difficult to take some good shots! This was about 3/4 of the way to the top and I was already ready to turn back because of the cold.

I tried to time this hike right around when the aspens would be changing colors, looks like we timed it perfectly! The aspens change colors at different times depending on the altitude and amount of sunlight they get, so we got pretty lucky with this patch.

There was a bunch of creeks running along the trail. This one stays by the trail for over a mile and is fed by a waterfall further upstream. The waterfall is only 3/4 of a mile in from the start of the trail and is an easy hike if you're looking for a nice view. It's called Alberta Falls.
