Edgy Skater Photo session

in #photography7 years ago

I love going from creating soft and beautiful images to something edgy, tough, and strong! I am often both, I naturally love bouncing back and for to both styles. I took up Skateboarding at the time of this shoot and would go hard at the skate park daily. Proud with many falls, scratches and bruises, I was hooked. Did I master it, no, but soon after I took up Longboarding and fell completely in love. I wanted to do the shoot to create edgy images, and it was at this particular time in my life, the images in this shoot matched up to the raw, edge I was experiencing in life. These images take me back to a challenging time, where I had to be strong, I had to have immense courage to face a lot of adversity. I love the images, how hard they are, but how there is a softness to them as well. My Love and connection to skateboarding is evident. Skateboarding and Longboarding gave me a sense of freedom, cruising, riding, feeling a taste of free...

The white balance that my photographer chose, brought out the blues in the images. When edited the images had a cartoon type feel to them. A graffiti type look of a skater. It worked well with the images.

These last set of images are without the skateboard. The graffiti, the walls, the steel, created a strong backdrop for the shoot.
