Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - Photo Fun Contest Week 32: "B&W Photography".
As my third and last entry for this week's challenge, by @claudiaz. It's been ups and downs discussion with myself about which photos to post, especially because I decided to post only three. It's been a pretty decent way to challenge my creativity and forcing myself to get out of that comfort zone of not going beyond what I've done already.
I present you now a couple of photos I made back in 2014, that time when I didn't own a camera and wasn't that into photography. I can say, these two photos made such and impression on me, they were the little push I needed to get involved in the photography world. These photos were made using a digital camera I had back then, Kodak Easy Share C653. I hiking that day in one of my favorite routes in Venezuela. I went to the natural hot springs of La Musui. The road to the hot springs is at 2 hours on bus from the city of Mérida, into the local town of Mucuchíes, based at 2.983 masl. I love this place, you get to feel small between the inmensity of the mountains, but most of all, you get to be free.
There's a house that has always caught up my attention, it belongs to a man called Marino. He's a 70 year old man who lives in the base of the mountain, he dedicates himself to harvest his own food and take care of his pets, he has 4 dogs and a couple of cats. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder", is all I can think about when I see this photo. He's happy, with so little. He doesn't need anything to be happy more than his pets and his peace. Peace can be beautiful, wisdom can look serene.
These photos are between my favorites, it's the most greatest couple of photos I've ever made. Why? Well look at his eyes. I sense too many feelings when I look at them. His look is loaded with feelings of fullness and perhaps longing. His face shows that the years don't pass in vain and perhaps shows the fatigue, but the fullness of a job well done. It just gives me chills.
