Amorphophallus Paeoniifolius (Elephant Foot Yam)

in #photography7 years ago

I found Amorphophallus Paeoniifolius growing on the moist surface at Padang Tiji, Pidie Regency, local people call it Bungong Liki. There are seen dozens of Amorphophallus Paeoniifolius grows among them are still buds, bloomed, and some have withered. From the observation at the location of the flower is not being cultivated, it grows naturally. The plants bloom every year around the beginning of the rainy season.

Amorphophallus paeoniifolius, the elephant foot yam or whitespot giant arum, is a tropical tuber crop grown primarily in Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia and the tropical Pacific islands. Because of its production potential and popularity as a vegetable in various cuisines, it can be raised as a cash crop. en.wikipedia.org

Although the beautiful flowers are dominated by a striking dark brown color, but it spread the stinking smell to attract pollinators.
