A Journey to JeJu island - DAY 1 on the beach- SOUTH KOREA - 한국 제주도 여행, 바닷가
Jeju island is located off the south coast of South Korea and spans an area of 1849 km squared. It has a volcanic landscape with the highest rising volcano Hallasan reaching a height of 1950m above sea level. Hallasan is dormant at its current state and lets hope it stays that way for now so we can continue to visit!
After spending a week in Busan, a city located at South Eastern corner of South Korea we got a short flight to Jeju which took around 50 minutes. We hadn't done much research and didn't really known what to expect, except that we wanted to go for a hike and explore the nature that the island had on offer. The follow photographs are a document of our first day!
On arrival, we took a bus from the airport directly to our hotel. This is the first view from where we got dropped off.
We came across this small family run plant shop filled with curiously intersting plants and pottery.
After resting our heads we woke up at dawn then got one of the local buses down towards the beachfront near where we were staying. We weren't expecting views like this.
These stone towers were built from the solidified molten lava that was once excreted during the island's formation.
That's me just browsing these stone towers that were spread widely across the beachfront. We were lucky enough to have the beach pretty much to ourselves.
After enjoying the view we attempted to build some towers for ourselves in a way to immortalise our visit.
This is us attempting to build our own towers. If anyone's there now I would appreciate if you could tell me how my blocks doing. My tower looks like the one with stones on top of each other, making a stone tower....
A few hours passed and as the sun began to set beyond the horizon we were able to experience this beautiful view in the distance of an adjacent island.
That's all for day one of Jeju island for us, I hope you enjoyed reading and looking through the photographs. Much appreciated.
Much love to the Steemit community!
Namaste
