Reporters and the media play an important role in showing us what is really happening in the world. The photos of the situations of war and natural disasters tend to open our eyes more than words. These 10 impressive photos Press have become a symbol of the historic moment that they immortalize.

1. The falling soldier

Robert Capa has seized this spontaneous image of the soldier falling without looking at the viewfinder of his camera. He said that he had simply held his device above his head and took the photo. With this photo, Capa has elevated the photograph of war to a new level.

2. The young Afghan girl

This photo was taken by Steve McCurry in a refugee camp in 1984 on the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan. It was the coverage of an edition of the National Geographic magazine of 1985; this young girl with green eyes has become a symbol of the Afghan civil war (1979-1989) and the terrible living conditions of refugees throughout the world.

3. The vulture and the little girl

during the Second Sudanese Civil War (1983-2005), a lot of people died of starvation. The photographer Kevin Carter has found this little girl, struck by famine, resting after crawled toward a power center of the United Nations. Nearby, was posed a vulture, waiting for the right time. Unfortunately, history has not a happy end: Housing has left the girl behind, because it was held not to touch the victims of the Famine (and to transmit any diseases).

4. Raising the flag on Iwo Jima

                                                    

this winning photo of the Pulitzer Prize, taken by Joe Rosenthal, is one of the photos in the United States the most famous and the most emblematic of the Second World War. Purpose What looks like a moment of pure Victory, represents in fact a month of fighting: three of the soldiers on this image are dead in action during the following days.

5. The Power of One

this winning photo of the Pulitzer Prize 2007 shows a Palestinian woman isolated which tries to prevent a group of Israeli police officers to evacuate people illegal in the West Bank in Israel. Even then that the military push and trample almost, she always fights. It was taken by Oded Balilty.

6. The Falling Man

This impressive photo, taken by Richard Drew, shows one of at least 200 persons who are fallen or jumped from the World Trade Center towers during the attacks of 11 September. Its identity has never been confirmed.


7. A man on the moon

This is not only the war and the suffering that makes a photo of emblematic press: the image of Buzz Aldrin walking on the surface of the Moon for the first time in the history is one of the photos of the most famous of all time. It was taken by Neil Armstrong, Commander of the Apollo 11, July 20, 1969.




8. Atomic bomb on Nagasaki 

an image of one of the most tragic points in the history: the American forces dropping their second atomic bomb, called "Fat Man". The photograph of the cloud in the form fungus showed the impact of the bomb, leaving it to our imagination the fate of some 80,000 people who died that day. The photo was taken by Lieutenant Charles Levy, who participated in the mission of dropping of the second bomb.



9. The man in front of the tanks 

           

5 June 1989, Beijing. The day after the Tiananmen Square massacre, when the Chinese army has killed hundreds of demonstrators in favor of democracy. When a man, with bags, is standing in front of a line of tanks and refuses to move, the photographer Jeff Widener is sure that the man will be killed, but, surprisingly, this is not the case. Capture Widener this time of solitary protest and the unidentified man became a symbol in many countries.


10. A surrendering Jewish boy 

the photographer and the people in the photo have never been identified, but the Jewish boy on the image became the face of six million innocent Jews who have been killed by the Nazis during the Second World War. We know that the photo has been taken in Warsaw in 1942.


The photos of the press give us an overview of important issues in the world, and a collection of photos of the press can provide an excellent overview of the historical moments.
