Swapmeet Finds #2758
Written on the back: "Chief Spence and me the day I heard about my orders". The "me" being our Marine on the left, with Chief Spence on the right. Don't know for sure, but I think the orders he was talking about were orders sending him home (i.e. escaping from Viet-Nam). Not sure if all the Schlitz cans were celebratory or if that was just the normal, everyday amount. :-)

Our marine looks surprisngly concerned for someone finding out he will be returning home from the Vietnam War. Any further insight based upon your inspection if the cache of pictures?
Not really. He always looked like that. And most of the remaining pictures are people and places around the base. Like he was taking pictures to remember everything, before he left...
Agreed, that is a good point. He has always looked sensible and stoic in the pictures I've seen.
