Journeys - Sightseeing Nueva Esparta: Photo Series
Eye sea you
Introduction
Continuing with our series on Isla de Coche, now we turn to the island's spirit. Its content, its meaning, and its way of life, along with some ancillary elements from Nueva Esparta's main island, Margarita. I remember visiting Nueva Esparta for the first time: it was a place like no other. At moments, a barren desert and a lonely two lane road ahead, leading to your destination. At nights, a peaceful beach, and a never ending ocean, murmuring softly. But most of the day, and under silent inspection, you could catch, and watch, the islands' true nature in action.
I hope you enjoy this humble work
Sightseeing Nueva Esparta
A man stares into the sea from a ferry ship
Travelers sitting in a dock. Two children play under them
A world upside down
An old lady cooks in a rough kitchen
Three boys play baseball. To the left, a girl draws in a notebook
An eroded wall, painted over and over again
Graffiti on a concrete wall
A girl stares at three armed soldiers
Some of these shots were taken at Margarita. Some others, at Isla de Coche. But Nueva Esparta's theme is the same overall. Passion, joy, and a pinch of misery. Sun, sand, and an occasional oasis. Life's simple things reunited, yet invaded by the sight of things unexpected: memories of the past, and reminders of the present.

Make sure to follow me to see more of my work! I'll be starting a different series with my next Journeys post. If you like music, you can't miss it! Don't forget to leave a comment telling me what you think about my pictures, and, if you liked them, consider upvoting my post to make my day nicer :)
All pictures were taken with my inconspicuous Nikon D90 + Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G and Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G, hiding in plain sight to capture people's essence.
