Journey through Slovakia - the city of Poprad.

Poprad is the main city of the High Tatras region. It is a famous resort of Slovakia, which is located in the valley between the High and Low Tatras. The city was founded in the 13th century and belonged to the Saxon community. By the 18th century the city had become a significant trade center at the crossroads of the most important trade routes.

High Tatras is a mountain mass in the north of Slovakia on the border with Poland. This is the highest part in the chain of the Carpathian Mountains. The length of the main ridge is only 26 km, but the mountain range is characterized by a peculiar alpine character, so the High Tatras are called the smallest among the world's largest mountains.
The highest peak of the High Tatras is the Gerlachovsky Stit 2655 m, the height of others is more than 2500 m.

The nearest town is Poprad. It is located about 12 kilometers from the ski resorts. Between it and the resorts a railway is laid. The journey by train takes about 30 minutes (to Old Smokovec)

Ancient castles towering in the hills, ice caves, thermal springs, national cuisine - all this is a delightful Poprad.

In Poprad, a 600-kilometer network of beautifully marked hiking trails connects all the Alpine valleys and many peaks. Here, in the vicinity of the park, there are such well-known resorts as Stari Smokovec, Shtrebske Pleso, Tatranska Lomnica, the famous water tourism center - the gorge of the Dunajec River, the Cartesian monastery of the XIV century, etc.

I think that lovers of skiing, bathing in thermal springs, a tourist will enjoy the trip to Poprad.
