Photo of the Day: New year photosession, part 1.
Hi everyone! New photo shoot is already in the process :-) Surprisingly, last year so many people literally pulled me into portrait photography (despite my interest in the subject and food photography), I had to involuntarily think about it, and then to agree. On holidays it was planned to hold two photo sessions, but one of them was canceled for reasons beyond my control, and the second was exactly on schedule. I had several tasks: to learn how to work with the model, to work with a light-aperture lens Sony 50 mm, as well as actually shoot a quality photo shoot. Let's go!
According to the plan, it was planned to first choose reference images that would serve as a guide for the image, lighting and composition. In practice, because of the holidays references were only nominal, only what was on the website of the photo studio. However, this fact was compensated by the fact that I had to shoot a girl who in the past was a professional model and it is very cool to facilitate all the work.
The light was quite simple, just one source with a huge octabox. By the way, despite this, in my opinion, everything turned out just fine, and my feelings about it were in vain. Only then came the idea that it was possible to experiment with the backlight. But now, apparently, another time. The feeling of working with studio light is the most positive. Really reliable workhorse.
A few words about working with the lens. On the crop, the equivalent focal length is 75 mm. This is quite a lot, since the viewing angle is small and for a growth portrait it is necessary to move away from the model by 6-8 meters. This is not even a drawback, but a certain feature that should be taken into account when working with such optics. All the rest is only advantages. Sharpness, starting from the open aperture, stabilizer, excellent blur - all are great. By the way, it is worth noting that Sony's cameras are able to focus on the face (and now also on the eyes) and it's just incredibly easy process.
Time in studio was only two hours. It seems like that's a lot. In fact, when it is planned to shot on 3-4 locations and the same number of changes of clothes, I had to literally run around the studio. In addition, zooming of the frame in the case of a fixed focal length, requires active movement, as well as changing positions in the vertical plane. In general, after two hours, we are both already noticeably tired, but this is the case when you feel moral satisfaction :-) and that's what happened in the end.
Camera: Sony a6000
Lens: Sony SEL50f18
