Seven places in the world that are illegal to travel.
From ex-asylums, to islands full of snakes and forbidden sacred areas, the following places are only for travelers who want to end up in jail or ... dead.
Surtsey, Iceland
This small volcanic island is located in the southern tip of Iceland and was created during the massive volcanic eruptions of the 1960s. Today, visitors are forbidden, as researchers are studying it in order to understand how a new island can become habitable.
Cave of Lasco, France
The cave of Lasko is one of the most important caves with paleolithic frescoes, distinguished not only by their number but also by their aesthetics. It has been called as the "Sistine Chapel of the Frescoes", "Versailles of Prehistory" and "French Althamira". Unfortunately, the cave has been sealed since 1963 in an attempt to save frescoes from deterioration, from calcite, microorganisms, but also as many visitors ... painted on them.
Bohemian Grove, California
This is a grove in Monte Rio, California, owned by the Bohemian Club, a club made up of famous and powerful people. There they are doing their meetings, their wild parties, and it is said that pagan magic ceremonies are also taking place. Anyone who dares to invade unnecessary ends up behind the irons.
Northern Sentinel Island, Andaman Islands, Indian Ocean
This is where the visitor ends up in prison, but in the ... earth. The inhabitants of the island really want their peace and whoever approached admit it with a ton of arrows.
Ni'ihau, Hawaii
Few people in the world have heard the words "Welcome to Ni'ihau". The reason is that the "forbidden island" of Hawaii is hard to reach and beyond limits for all but its inhabitants, specific military personnel, government representatives and few visitors who will be able to get a tourist visa. It is the only place in the archipelago where one can live the Hawaiian culture, as it was 100 years ago. The island does not belong to the United States, but to Bruce and Keith Robinson, the grandson of the original owner, Elizabeth Sinclair, who bought the island from the King of Hawaii, Kamehameha IV, in the late 1860s.
Poveglia, Italy
The small island of Poveglia is located between Venice and Lido, in our neighboring Italy. All right here. The reason, however, that one can not visit is that he once hosted a psychiatric clinic, which is believed to torture patients and put them in experiments. Now, many people think the place is haunted, so the local government has banned visits to everyone.
Ilha da Queimada Grande, Brazil
It looks gorgeous, but this strip of land hides a "secret": it hosts thousands of deadly necks - that's why it circulates as the "island of snakes" - which have been attacking people in the area for centuries. The Brazilian government has banned entry to the island and only occasionally allows researchers to come closer to study the place.
