Congratulations to our 4 winners; you ran a fantastic race.

I'd like to thank Grinding Gear Games.
This game is just incredible; and the fact that it's completely free to play really sets a new standard.
They've built a gripping game, and a wonderful community.

Now, onto the winners.

Absolutely smashing it, once again; taking out 3 of the 7 classes, including the Witch; as well as the highest level character overall is...

Gamingchimp

Congratulations, mate. Incredible effort.
100 STEEM on the way.

Next up, Cryptosenpai; who managed highest level Ranger and Scion takes home 40 STEEM. Top work.

Enjar wins 20 STEEM for a level 51 Duelist, and another 20 for moon32walker and his level 28 Templar.

Check your Steem Engine accounts for 2000 DEC each.

Thankyou, ratticus and kanrat for jumping in and giving it a go. I saw some real contenders dragged off the arena by their ankles, better luck next time.

It was again very exciting and a lot of fun.

Unfortunately I didn't know about the new league and the competition until Friday. At the moment I am more busy with the current Diablo Season. After a short nap I did some research and decided for a duelist.

At the beginning the POE pages were hard to reach, so you couldn't really see what the others were playing.

In the beginning my duelist was also quite good in the race. In the end it became a bit too dangerous for me, so I parked the duelist and started a Templar.
@enjar was really fast with the duelist in the end, so I had to unpack it again. Then I tried to catch up with him, which finally ended in a RIP at such a fat witch. He had just reached level 44. But it wasn't that bad, because I wouldn't have been able to get @enjar anyway. :-)

Congratulations to all winners and thanks a lot for organizing @mattclarke!
I hope to get to know about it a little earlier next time. :-)

When I find time, I finish a video for Dtube, have recorded over 20 hours.

Yeah, D3 season timing seems to have gotten much closer to the start of the new PoE league this time around. It used to be almost perfect and I'd have done with D3 by the time race started. Not so much this time, but I did tell my regular player that I wouldn't be about yesterday to play because of PoE

I've not checked out D3 in a long time. You would think they would want there seasons to be no where near PoE's league starts.

I was hoping you would I was sadden to see you had died. I was over level farming a lower level zone playing it safe. While working on getting my gear, socket color, and gems better sorted out just in case. Thanks for the fun.

It was definitely a lot of fun and I had nothing to lose. :-)
Although I was quite a bit shocked when it suddenly hit me.

Having sent friend requests out last league to all that competed, it was considerably easier to see what others were playing this time around as I'd invariably check who was online and what they were playing. I only saw Linny playing witch though, and with her not being in the comp, completely missed that gamingchimp was playing one (along with all the other classes...)

This is an interesting possibility. I could require that all contestants befriend each other.
(I've only ever played solo). Can you foresee any downsides?

I don't really see a problem. The accounts are public anyway. And if you don't want that afterwards, you can simply end the friendship.

Exactly, I can't come up with any potential downside, only benefits. It would lead to simply checking the progression in-game rather than opening all contenders' PoE character page every 30-60 minutes. ^^

Upsides also include strengthening the community. You don't have to play with each other for there to be interest in how others are doing, what they're playing, what they're enjoying, and just conversations while playing.

I'd start with it being a suggestion, rather than requirement (and not sure how you'd enforce the requirement anyway...)

Cheers. If it weren't a condition of entry then anyone opting out would have an unfair advantage, though? In that other competitors would need to navigate out of the game to check on his/her progress?
I very much doubt it'd be a problem with our current entrants. You're all here for the love of the game.
(Less than $10 prize money for 24 hours of intense focus is hardly going to bring out the worst in people)
That said, if Steem hits $20, and each of the class prizes is worth $400; I'd rather not have people disadvantaged by their good sportsmanship.
If there's no technical reason that a player would be unable to send and receive friend requests and it makes the process easier for everyone, then I'd rather make it mandatory from the get go.
We still have a few months, though. I'm very much open to suggestions.

Yeah, I'll do that with the friendship request next time. You can follow the competitors much better.

I had also thought about the witch, but then decided for Templar as the second. The fact that @moon32walker already had a Templar with end 20, I also saw much too late. :-)

Better preparation next time! ;-)

Tnx mate, this one was as intense as ever :) I always need to start the league the next day because patch hits late at night in my area, while I was sleeping patch was downloading, early in the morning I was ready to go. I ended up creating 4 characters because I had no clue who picked who, that created kind of interesting situation, it would be fun to not know the results until the end of the event.

I had one rip with my Shadow against some buffed new league mechanics, I quickly gave up with Duelist seeing 2 higher level ones very far in front, Ranger did good but not good enough to win, my only winner was hybrid Templar, good dude.

Launches at 5:30 am here. Happily I work nightshift so its at the tail end of my working day.
I had some internet issues though, so couldn't post the account names before kick off.

it would be fun to not know the results until the end of the event.

That'd add some intrigue; but difficult for you guys to audit. I guess we could have accounts on Private, switching over to Public after the race is over.

It adds another layer, looking up who is playing what class; choosing your own based on things like total number of entries. Its a game within a game; but if you just want to play, I can see it being an additional complication.
I think if I were playing, I'd have a friend on strategy duty. He'd look after the high level stuff; what competitors are doing; when I have sufficient lead to switch characters or start a new one.
Team play.

Gratz!

Shadow always seemed a bit rippy for a hardcore race. I've yet to play around with any of the new league stuff.

Fun fact, he did more dmg than every other character I rolled(frost blades got buffed big time), he seemed awesome until overconfidence in the build, then rip fast :)

Thanks a lot for hosting these @mattclarke, really enjoyed it again. Also, special thanks to @linnyplant for adding that 20 Steem for the Witch! :)

First time I chose to go for a duelist, but sadly I had my first death in the history of poecomps. I was using the legion mechanic (it was crazy rewarding, lots of uniques and currencies), when suddenly i met a rare with Extra Projectiles, which proceeded to kill me from full health in less then a millisecond. I was really surprised because bladestorm was ripping through everything without anything special on the gear, and I had like 1,200 hp with capped resistances at LvL 36. :/

After I basically played ED Witch and Perforate on other chars, its really strong for leveling if you have some gear, I would definitely recommend checking it out. In the end I was a bit worried about @enjar catching up in levels, luckily I was in Act 6 already, so I could level up at a faster pace.

Congrats to all the contenders, and thanks again for hosting these, it's always a pleasure to compete! :)

Always a pleasure to have you involved. Ratticus mentioned he's befriended many of the other players in-game, making it easier for you all to watch each other. I'm contemplating making it an entry requirement in future leagues.
Did you have any preferences on that, or can you envisage any drawbacks?

I think it would make everyone's job easier and I think it would be nice to build the community by having each other on the friendlists anyways so I think it'd be a great idea. I don't really see any downsides to it in terms of the race, so I'll probably add everyone at the start next time! :)

This race felt extremely dangerous. Monsters certainly hit bigger than usually & because of that I was close to death a couple of times. The new dash came handy in escaping the difficult situations.

Thank you very much & congratulations guys! Awesome race as always! :)

Congrats to all the winners, and all those that took part. Bit sad to see the low turnout, but was still great fun playing

I had an amazing time. Thanks for making a solid effort. I kept seeing you go offline and then come back with a higher rat pack level. I was like "oh no." You will get us next time!

Congratulations to all the winners! Thanks everyone for the fun. Have an amazing rest of the league.

um, witch? pretty sure I had a living one at the end of the comp. Even if my L24 and L28 died and there was a early death for Rat_Pack_III, Rat_Pack_IV still lives

.... may the spirits of those ancestors help guide her steps :)

and now I read properly, I see where witch is mentioned. Must have been blind when I first read this.

Oops blinked and missed it, it’s been insanity around here 😵 congratulations to the victors 😄

Always next time :)

Yep, hopefully next time won't be as insane and he can just chicken out again ;D

Ahhh I hope you catch the next league start. I was busy spamming away on twitter about it hehe. Have a great week!

It's actually my son that was going to join in from the last one or two XD He chickened out the first couple of times intimidated by the competition, and was going to join in this time except we're in the middle of a renovation project and also new cats are moving in so we completely forgot :S lol.

Next time XD

Thanks, you too :)

Well tell him we are not that scary! Most of us are causal players that enjoy softcore when we are not in this race!
