Joyful Time

in #poem5 years ago

From art, from nature, from the schools,
High on a Throne of state is seen
Dip down upon the northern shore,
The proper way to eat a fig, in society,

Whose woods these are I think I know.
Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee,
'With sacrifice before the rising morn
You two, who woo, take record of to-night,

God gave us Cloaths to hide our Nakedness,
Time eateth away at many an old delusion,
With Donne, whose muse on dromedary trots,
Why do I sigh to find

Hope, art thou true, or doest thou flatter me?
Titan! to whose immortal eyes
Respect your mother and father.
Safe upon the solid rock the ugly houses stand
