POEM: TO GROW

in #poem7 years ago

See long trenches Left and right

watering vegetable beds
Men beating soil with thier hoes
Sun slapping on their backs
The threshing kid striking tiredly
And a hungry donkey horning
Groaning under tomato weight

Rolled over to end the sleep
Praying God to change the dream
But its no dream; rains are long gone
and dry season mounts the throne

But I sure can change the dream
And start seeing tractors, silos
factory goods, good seeds, and trucks
And donkey abuse will be gone

To change the dream is in the books
To change my thoughts and methods
Learn to do things in improved ways
Not stiff to change like the rock
