Wolves

The firelight became fading
The shadows grew in length
within the distance in case you listened
you could hear the faintest cries
Of coyotes and of wooden wolf
Signalling the stop of day
Howling on the developing moon
maintaining night time spirits at bay

The last piece of the sagebrush
was burning to it's middle
The flames that danced as quicksilver
Now, they danced no more
The hearth, once was blazing
it's flames a risky height
become now a nest of coal chunks
to warm us thru the night

4 days out and three to head
we might be in two days in advance
The scheduled experience with this years herd
And we would be back in our personal bed
A smaller institution of red meat this time
however, this is the way it is going
as a minimum we might depart the mountains
before the early snows

espresso from the morning meal
become nonetheless sitting inside the pot
two mins within the embers
And it became steaming hot
the primary spherical of watch turned into up
And the espresso changed into re done
the second one watch, for wolves and things
wished coffee and a gun

We heard the wolves, but missed all of them
they had been following us for three days now
And at night time you'd listen them call
They signalled that the day turned into performed
And that the herd turned into staying nonetheless

The fireplace was near completed
The flames have been all but smoke

If the wolves stored at a distance
And just stored howling at the moon
we'd lose no greater pork this night
And be home days from midday

The fireplace spit and crackled
The night time become damp and bloodless
the celebrities had been silent beacons
To the wolves so brief and bold
We heard them within the distance
Howling loud as though to say
Will you are making it through until morning?
