The Universe Has Swallowed You Whole

An Original Poem by @CarlieEster

The universe has swallowed you whole,
Its belly rumbling tumbling,
shooting stars
Like birds of prey falling from the sky
Passing venus, passing mars
A comet cradled within prison bars
Ricochet off kingdoms -
Kill dem kingdoms, their drawbridge has no slack
A comet banging his head on a brick wall –
Will no one answer back?
Will no one let me in.
A comet whose fall
Rumbling tumbling shooting stars
Picking them off one, by, one
They seem so close, yet live so far.
Golden angels in the sky, their plummet
Cascading elegantly back to the summit
Of a water and a living planet.
The universe has swallowed you in one great gulp
Stealing diamonds and rubies in its jaws
Its throat is cold and black like tar
Its head throws back with a lion’s roar.
The universe is leading wars by
Shooting stars
Til they rumble, tumble
Drop down dead -
Harvested for their colours
Their pretty green on gold on black
But when you call out to him,
No one answers back.
