A (original) lighthearted poem about the struggles of a 21st century Sock.

in #poetry7 years ago

As I was doing my laundry this week I found my self in an all too familiar but still depressing situation. I had a sock which had lost his friend. So I decided to write a poem about him.

I peruse the laundry from above
As we await your one true love

In my cupboard you will sit
Until we find a friend that fits

Don’t be down, no need to despair
We can make you a temporary pair,

You see you’re not alone my friend.
This occurrence has become a trend

For there are many over in my draw
Who were made friendless long before

So why don’t we go and take a peek,
See if we find you company to keep

In amongst that mangled mess
I am sure there’s one to ease your stress

That’s fine if she’s is your selection
Don’t fret about the imperfection

Yes she is yellow and you are blue,
But you’ll both be hidden in my shoes.

I often write silly little poems like this but this is the first time I have shared one with anyone but my close family and friends. Please be kind with your comments.
