Poetry from the rainy days

in #poetry6 years ago (edited)

I've been busy with The Good Vibes Contest, challenging myself and others to focus on the good things in life and bring joy and happiness. It's been great and I can't wait to do it again next time.

But tonight I'm a little melancholic, so I decided to share with you guys some of my poetry from times when I was a little less joyful. When life was a bit darker, the rain a bit heavier.

These might make you sad, and I'm sorry about that. Although it is necessary to experience sadness and sorrow, to be able to feel the joy when it comes.
Like Bob Ross said: ''Gotta have opposites, light and dark and dark and light, in painting. It’s like in life. Gotta have a little sadness once in awhile so you know when the good times come.''

The Window

She sat by the window to watch the rain.
The same spot where she sat
when she watched them walk out the garden
and when she watched them come back.

But there were no 'they' living there anymore
And there was no garden
But a clutter of rusted swings
and children's bikes
and dreams.

Old

And when I say I'm getting old
don't you look at my wrinkled skin,
or at the grays
growing at my temples

You look in my eyes
and the terror of time walking past
and I, not being able to ever catch up
with the I that once was.

You look in my eyes when they see the woman
staring back from the glass,
and yet not knowing how or when
she became the blurry shadow of a happy
but long forgotten, other I.

Another serpent

She could feel it crawling beneath her skin
The terror.

Her mouth was curled into a wrinkled smile
and yet her heart was thudding.

Voices were shrieking as fingers trembled quietly;
Eyes were still.

There was no escaping the snakes when they came,
Yet one could lie about them being.
One could forget the next day
when they silently turned into buterflies,
when the crawling marks erased;
but only so briefly until
they returned

Thank you for reading and I hope you didn't mind joining me in this moment of sadness. We'll go back to smiles and joy together tomorrow.

Until next time, Steem on!

And oww... That's touching.....tides and time don't endure forever; they slowly drift away overtime

What a lovely way of ending my day .
Thanks for the lirycs . They got me into the artists skin and live the moment .

Hmmmm dear @corina there you have faced lots of dark sides in life . But i love the fact that u don't let them define you. The picture of the old flower though got me

Thanks, this was a beautiful item👍👍👍

Thats what ,i like about you, your style of writing.

I have to agree. Life is not about happiness and joys but also sadness and grief. It's about how we bring balance to two forces in our lives. They are what make life. How can we appreciate the goodness in life if we can't go through pain and suffering?

Nice to meet you

You're such a talented poet! These were great fodder for early morning musings, and I'm grateful. I'd love to see you post more!
