LIFE WITHOUT THE PAIN

(Am Em G D)
No more yellow cabs and subways
I'm through breathing in your smog
I'm not the man who came here
An empty shell of who you robbed

I've been walking through the memories
Sifting through the shattered past
I sometimes can't determine
If it's really you behind the glass

(Chorus)
My life's always changing
Yet it always seems the same
Tired of dreaming about tomorrow
You can't live life without the pain

I left the bridges all behind me
Ones I burned down one by one
The city more than changed me
Don't recognize who I've become

It's time to take back what I came for
Pick up the pieces while I can
I have a chance to stop the bleeding
Without you I'm a better man

My life's always changing
Yet it always seems the same
Tired of dreaming about tomorrow
You can't live life without the pain

Hi @doghaus reading the letter of the song written, I quite identify myself with the following, since no matter where you could be
"My life's always changing
Yet it always seems the same
Tired of dreaming about tomorrow
You can't live life without the pain"

Exactly @ogutierrez no matter our age or where we are in our lives or even where we are in the world - those lines are applicable. All the best in 2018!

Pain is a mind game

I like that @justinansako, you're right - very rarely are we in physical pain but the mental pain rarely stops. When we're able to control or understand it we're able to enjoy this journey a little bit better.

Nice song. I wonder how much longer all of these cabs are going to survive if they don't become competitive with their rates. Uber and Lyft seem to be a much better option.

Love this poetry / song ~ fantastic! Man can I relate to this. Red tape, taxes, corporate politics and Police-State shady justice system . . . NO THANKS!

  • Goodbye NY Goodbye - wouldn't wanna be ya !

Thanks @lanceman...kinda knew it was going to go that way but still had to give it a shot. Chalk it up to experience I guess!

Thanks @gclipse, I will!

People go to big cities to lose the pain and only gain more of a different kind. Better to stay where you belong and deal with the pain...

Exactly @cecicastor, it will follow us wherever we go...might as well face it where we are.

What won't kill you makes you stronger. Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional. I wish I could hear you sing this song.

Thank you @princesslilo, it's a fairly slow tune until the chorus - then I belt it (as best I can)! Maybe one of these days I'll record and post it.

Looking forward to it!
