Today (Original Poem)
Today
Blindsided by news
Cogs speed up
And spit out a version of reason
Worry consumes
Like a vixen vine
Climbing the stairs
Immediate peril
Or narrow escape
A show down
The glass snake
And the fuzzy spider
Drifting down a river
On a broken branch
Sweaty palms
And heavy breathing
Are life boats
While sharks circle the afternoon
In a barren land
A lone bull parched and weary
Rests its head on a rock
Despair envelops the air
The sun draws its curtains
Invites all to turn in
To make sense
Of today
