Betrayal

I said I'd always wait for you,
No matter what the others say,
Beneath the skies of gray or blue,
And throughout every night and day.

For you alone can bring me love,
All others who have tried have failed,
You make the earth like heav'n above,
With you, my happiness prevailed.

I watched you love another soul,
Again and again, I’m turned aside.
By myself, I never can be whole,
You said you'd come, I know you lied.

While you live and love, not wanting me,
The life we could have will never be known,
