SELF-ESTEEM

Succumbing to constant pressure
Conscience comes naked
Often under the harsh hammer
So cleverly welded
By goody-goody people,
Bejewelled with manoeuvring acts;
Heart and soul begin to dance
To rich tunes of glamorous crescendo.

Devoid of all feel and sense,
Zeal and melody of love and life
One's hard stand and the attitude
Maintained once with head
Held in high esteem
Is subjected and relegated
And subjugated to a veiled defeat
That invites a deadly downfall
In one's own eyes wide open
To be realized in due course of time.

Self-esteem and dignity are rudders
To swim across the sea of life
Tearing off the cobwebs of avarice,
At every step of life
A tempting bait lurks unseen
That tends to misguide and deviate
The feet treading the right path.
It is better to get hold of a right hand
Or the right end of the stick
And never throw straws against the wind.
