Remembrance (Asaba Massacre)

Rwandan-Genocide.jpg

In the village square of ogbe-osowa village
where it all happened
within hundreds of corpses laid,
the sea of red ink
beneath their bodies
and fellow comrades piled on top
of each other, all faces blackened and obscured
by mud mixed with rain and tar and spit, yet
blanched were they under the
blankets of filth,

blanched by lifelessness, blanched –
a dreaded ivory.
The sea of red ink,
spilled upon the grounds of ogbe-osowa
and seeped through the tars into
the depths of earth
crying out for, ‘Justice!

The sea of red ink
beneath where the corpses laid,
stirred up a revolution,
a pandemonium,
a desperate, oppressed cry.
These is a village in Asaba where most people have forgotten.

In October 7, 1967, At a junction, men and teenage boys were separated from women and young children, and gathered in an open square at Ogbe-Osowa village. Federal troops revealed machine guns, and orders were given, reportedly by Second-in-Command, Maj. Ibrahim Taiwo, to open fire. Hardship

Empty the profound,
a sour existence so spun
Malice for goals,
Drawn breath of existence,
one's air of putrid stench
All inside attain,
sufferers to direful contact
Conscious set aspect,
glowers besmirching eyes
Ominous look,

reflections of inner self
Poison to soul,
fed on via plaguing mire
Dark languid swimming pools,
void emission of mild
From grimaced smile,
lashes vile scorching tongue

images.jpg

voices so sting,
spewing forth spittled fire
but called names Thoughtless fools,
shallow approaches come with due
Destined to fall,
stumbling across the heaped
Abandoned cries,
regarded faces turn away
Presence this is avoided,
suffers very own without help.

Broken

There’s a broken a part of my heart,

you broke it

into a pieces of meteors

I struggle to survive without you

but robbed me of that right

however my heart awaits

a substitute (anybody out there??)

Nature is Angry

images.jpg
Credits

It appears nature is fighting back
Water wrestle through the cemented walls,
Rain crept down heavily right here and there,
The pugnacious winds struggle the creaking doorways,

images.jpg

As dusk rises storm roar round us
Brown river gush thru the cultivated land,
Undulating waves splatter the retaining partitions,

images.jpg

Roofs rumble like humming bees with rasping rhythm.
Deep crimson sky shivers and growls with thunder,
Flicker lightning slips,
And stumble via turrets and towers.

Even motorbike suffocate inside the shrewd flood.
I think nature is sending us a message
to stop all pollutants

Meditation

Our mind moves in a protracted way,
Far throughout the fields,
Across the high hills,
Towards a place so Lovely and silent,
Beside a gurgling movement,

unnamed (11).jpg

Where we will see ourselves,
our reflection...
And talk out our emotions,
Our big dreams,
To ease our hearts,
In a serene environment.

Nigerians (Hustle)

We, climb a lone rough slope
Struggle from each era of messy and risky,
To a down hill, unholy and grave era.
We never blame the crossing fate
We only believe in uncertain fortune,
This misery do not frighten us
Because we pray to God for an open path.

images.jpg

We believe our struggle will end with the twilight dust because
we look and see beyond the passing clouds,

images.jpg

Our journey might be bumpy, unrighteous or grave
but certainly we have vowed to reach our fate.

Past

images.jpg
Credits

Witnessed by eye,
moment's retreat into the past.
Forever planted to realm of time,
Events - never to be replayed .
Shade like night, days succumb,
darkened void consumes the dawn.

The present comes to conclude events,
given by time to carry on.
Days that follows never guaranteed,
but they are new beginnings, second chances,
To rise and make better choices,
for our legacy.
