Love, Not Like A Butterfly - An Original Poem

Over the dinner table
My elder sister rolled her tongue
And said, look, love is like a butterfly
That keeps flying elusively
Until it perches on you
When you least expected it.

Since I was too young
To talk about love
I held my peace.
But if my elder sister was right,
Why hasn't John, her boyfriend
Come to me by now?
