TIME STILL FLIES

You won’t believe that Time still flies
smoothly even in this tempestuous passage.

Of course it wasn’t that you sold your soul
to the devil, it was that you left her hanging
while you did, dangling on a rope, so to speak
(no pun intentionally intended, of course.)

She knows you thought of her all through the transaction,
but tell me, how heavy was your heart from the guilt?

doesn’t matter, anyway, I suppose you don’t even know
what that feels like anymore—a heart, not guilt.
You can’t ever not know guilt.

Tell me, how much was the change you got,
was it worth it?
You said it was the only answer
to the question the world asked you,
specially, through a mirror;

You who always had the answers—
Outcome alone is foolish and wise.

But it finally became a conscious fight against Time,
and how worthless all your intellect was then.
How worthless!

Nobody gets you. She gets you!
Nobody knows you. She knows you!

Well she knows you
can’t believe that Time still flies smoothly
in this tempestuous passage.

But it does. It does.

Maybe not as smooth as it once did,
but it does.

And with it, the tempest too.
