Today’s freewriting exercise is in poetry. I really miss my friend Sam. He died a few years ago after literally skirting death for years as a combat medic in Iraq and Afghanistan...and the car accident happened literally just months after he’d returned to the States “to stay”....how true he was. Shouldn’t be like that.

This is heartbreakingly beautiful.

He was one of the good guys, you know? I know you know. You knew him, too. Funny, smart, quick-witted, dorky. All the good things.

I wish I could have gotten to know him better. Although, I did sit by him in a few classes in school and remember always laughing at his shenanigans :) Thinking of you. Unfortunately, we all know the this heart wrenching feeling...

Damn... that's super sad. Beautiful words, lady.

Thank you for taking the time to read it, and for your kind words. Love you, girl. This was definitely an uncomfortable and very vulnerable post for me.

:( Too many great friends gone too soon...

They shouldn’t be gone.
