Soft Hum of Thoughts ...A Poem at Midnight

in #poetry5 years ago

The silence depressed me. It wasn't
the silence of silence. It was my own silence.

― Sylvia Plath

I’ve lived with silence—
I know it well.

I know the quiet creaking
Of my parent’s house,

The sudden hush
Before a downpour of rain…

The absence of a friend
Who won’t return again.

I know the dark silence
Of your eyes

The midnight watches
Of regrets and whispers.

I’m not afraid to be alone
With ghosts or lightning…

It’s my own silence
I find frightening.

@johnjgeddes, Life is filled with the Dual Games and the most painful aspect of life is, The Phase Of Dark Night 🌃 Of The Soul. Stay blessed.

Love Sylvia Plath ..... I actually did a term paper in college about her life and her works .

I agree, @anonymity5 - I always seem to quote from her and Atwood :)

I adore that moment of stillness before the skies open up.
But the dark silence from your eyes is quite disembodying ...

The silence I "enjoy" these days is tinnitus... :O

😄😇😉

@creatr

ha ha, sometimes a tolerable side effect of a joyful noise
