Let's Leave this Place
There's a man on stage
He just got up from his sleeping bag
At least the sun's shinin' on him
At least I've got the hot water
mixing with the coffee
I make breakfast even though I want cigarettes
There's a black train
unmoving
crows and magpies
waddling 'round the gravel lot
feathers glisten oily like
Itchy horny jonesin'
I got it bad
like all the rest of 'em
The man's in a camp chair now, still on stage, having a cigarette
There's a young man next door, RV in the sun
Signs say Caution--Bears sighted in the park
I barely move these days unless I'm behind a wheel or on foot up and down a mountain
I thought this tan dog in the bushes was a cougar
from my vantage point in the van in the shade
I was disappointed when it wasn't
He's packin' up
I'm packed up
Coffee already topped off and then swallowed gone
We've straightened our shirts and hair
Let's leave this place
