HUSBANDS AND HOUNDS - Disgruntled Poetry
HUSBANDS AND HOUNDS
I embrace the chaos, order the junk
Wrap it in plastic, put it into the trunk
Of my 96 Shitbox, no key fits the lock
I put her in gear and screech off down the block
On the way to the yard, to the dump, to the pound
The island of misfit husbands and hounds
Where a man and his dog can go off the rails
Nobody there to remind us we failed
We found us no place in this world full of things
Him with his bones and me with my strings
We tore up the sofa, we spoiled the rug
We both buried bones where we shouldn't have dug.
So now it's just madness that gives us a home
Forever together, never to roam.
No crazy cat lady would let us inside
Her garden of goodness, arms open wide
But that means nothing, we've little to fear
Insane is in season this time of year
We'll get us a good spot and settle right down
A dog on the skids and his unfunny clown.
