The Sounds a Maddman Hears at Night

in #poetry7 years ago

There plays a song in the ears of my blackened heart,
Of violent violins and thrashing distorted guitars,
Rhythm-less and without concept of flowing time,
Like white watered rapids of fluid made violent,
Like the hearts of wild and drunken madmen,
Above it all is a voice that shrieks and instills,
Wakes the weirder things inside with fright,
As the queer voice starts a primal humming,
A sound not fit for any child of god to make,
And it reverberates over deaths bony skull,
The macabre skeleton's bones start a shuffling,
And a twisting and a turning to the rattling of nerves,
Oh this scary frightful song plays long and loud,
Like the sex encounters of feral cats under the moon,
Oh, the retched sun is coming up, it’s ending soon.
