Deep Ponderings
Deep Ponderings
What is it to feel so deeply than to break our own hearts?
Giving the shirt off our backs for strangers
And yet, scratching shit with the chickens
Always having to be the one to apologize
Always loving the most
Yet always dying inside
Each second etching away at a dream that has become soon forgotten
We strive for truth
Our beliefs are squashed daily by those who believe they are bigger, stronger than us
And yet, we stay true
Dining with the poor rather than dining with snobs
Being Underdogs rather than being of worth
But we do have worth
Worth beyond the normal means
For to give and love so deeply is to be paid in Blessings
Little moments that take your breath away
Oh, you may see us tremble, cry, and frown
But it is not without sacrifice that we have made it this far
We are aware of our surroundings
We see the dwindling down of days and we perspire in our effort to save face
The dirt in our mouths is like the ashes we will become
It's suffocating at times and rough
But we know we dare not ask for more
For our society would spit in our faces before offering that kind of justice
No wretches like us thirst for truth and meaning
Writers such as myself seek refuge in a sea of words like alphabet soup swallowed down
In the end, we can only be thankful for this life
And this can only hand us what we have earned
For desire is a star just out of reach
