Echos of the Heart

In shadows of the mind, where self-doubts creep,
Where whispers linger and insecurities seep,
There lies a truth, profound and deep:
"Love thyself," it echoes, "before others you keep."

For how can one pour from an empty cup?
Or offer a drink when one has not supped?
The heart must be full before it can leap,
And embrace another soul, in love that's steep.

"See, I'm not bad like them," the insecure plea,
A mirror cracked, reflecting fragments of the sea.
Yet, when self-love dawns, clear and free,
"You are just like me," sings the heart, in glee.

In the acceptance of self, the chains unbind,
No longer to harsh judgments are we confined.
With love for oneself, we finally see,
The beauty in others, in you, in me.

So heed the words, in his rhythmic decree,
The heart must be open, for another key.
Only in loving oneself, does one truly agree,
To accept and to cherish, and let the soul be.

"You will never be able to truly love and accept others until you love and accept yourself.

You will constantly turn a critical eye on others out of your own insecure need to make yourself feel better…

“See I’m not bad like them”
Turns into
“You are so just like me”"
