Trailing Behind Dreams
On the edge of what's alive and what's urgent
I trail behind a hungry tiger.
Enticed to touch it's striped soft tail
I'm hypnotized by it's perceptive motion.
Emotion rising up as certain as tides
Salt perspires and excitable aromas can't hide.
Turning up nose catching the peculiar scent
She knows, but doesn't look.
Swift he thought unknowing caught
Trailing nervous always behind his dreams.
To touch to become to ride the tiger of unfolding dreams,
Slips out of reach as quicksand sips humans whole.
In fear, throat tight, not even screams can find an ear.
