When We Left #Poetry

When we left
We left behind those who were left
Stuck in the web of our old memories
Our ghosts strolling in the minds of our old lovers
Haunting the cold sides of their empty beds.

When we left
We left behind a trail of footprints
Betraying our current paths
For the even the strongest of winds
Cannot unburden us of our stained past.

We left the church
The believers and the sinners
And the men of cloth trying to unite the two.

When we left
We left behind loved ones in pain
And left when the sun denied had the rain.

We left behind our names
To be handed down in stories of our histories
Like the gods of our unforgettable times.

When we left
We left behind some mixed emotions
We left a few hearts sitting on a cliff edge
Love and hate combating tensions
Like skilled warriors fighting for a pledge.

I am recovering as a poet and a writer. Recovering from denying my work or words the chance to see the light of a screen. Recovering from doubting it.
