LIGHT AT THE END | A Poetry
LIGHT AT THE END
Darkness was not in the heart of men
The word stranger was strange to be used
Because everyone is either a friend or an accomplice
Can we bring back those days now?
So this thick turbulence can cease from the land
All we are seeking is peaceful redemption.
I look at the past with a smile on my face
Our forefathers almost had it all
They must be lucky to have left us to this.
Because of the evil that has spread like a disease
The blood of the innocent crying for justice
Sometimes we wish our children do not grow here.
For the grace to live through this pain
And a greater tomorrow for the next generation
That is innocent of the crimes of today.
Let’s believe in this popular saying
There is light at the end of every tunnel._
I believe truly that things will get better if we all believe that the darkness that beams on the earth will eventually cease for the light. It breaks the heart to watch the news or read the newspaper these days due to horrible happenings all around the world. As long as we cannot do much because we are not in power, we can still contribute our quota by hoping and praying for a greater future better than this present generation.
A short story crossed my mind as I looked for words to join together to make this poem. I was told many years ago, traders displayed their wares in front of their houses and placed stones to signify the price of the wares. A buyer would just count the stones and place the right amount there in the absence of the seller. That is the world we want; no cheating, crime or evil thoughts toward one another. Thank you for reading this.
